MAC is releasing the Spring Forecast colour collection in the US during February 2010 and internationally probably in March. Instead of having another themed collection like they do at the same time every year they’ve taken a new direction and created a massive collection filled with 4 different ‘Colour Waves’. Each Colour Wave houses a collection of different products from the same colour family. I think there's pink, purple, coral and neutrals/golds?

In the past there has been a lot of hype around the February collections- think Barbie, Fafi and Hello Kitty. Looking back, I didn’t really end up with much from these collections. Sure, the packaging was cute but the products weren’t so much my style. Spring Forecast is a different story- there’s new products and colours to appeal to everyone. It's all about the products and there's nothing hiding behind the packaging.

Today I’m singing the praises of the purple quad from the collection. There's also a shimmery neutral/golden toned quad with this collection, details on that coming soon!

There’s a nice combination of mattes and shimmer is this palette. Personally, I like using the two finishes together for something different, but there’s definitely scope for creating a shimmery purple or matte purple look using this palette.

Look familiar? I think this quad is a more amped up sister to the In the Gallery quad from earlier this year.

The two shimmery shades are really easy to work with and have good pigmentation. The mattes aren’t as easy to work with as say, MAC’s matte2 offerings, but they’re not too shabby, and definitely not chalky. You can see from the swatches that Jungle Moon is more difficult to get an even application from. I'm not sure of the official textures since my quad is a sample, but I'm guessing Bruised Plum (and possibly Black Tulip) is a Veluxe Pearl and obviously Mink Pink and Jungle Moon are Mattes.

MAC Spring Forecast- Crush Metal Pigment Stack 2

A new product from MAC! They've given us new goodies from time to time, my most recent favourites being the amazing Greasepaint Sticks! Sometimes new products can be a bit gimmicky but these new Crushed Metal Pigments stand out to me as being a great product. Today I'm blogging about the more neutral, earthy toned Stack 2 which will be released in February 2010 as part of the Spring Forecast collection

There are four shades of pigments, each weighing 4 grams for a total of 12 grams- compared to 7.5 grams for most MAC pigments. The colours are- gold, green, copper and beige.

The box contains 2 stacks of 2 pigments. I wonder why they didn’t make it so that it could be a stack of all 4 little jars together. Seems a bit odd to me, but what do I know?! However, you can mix and match any way to like to have whatever 2 pigments you like stacked together so that’s handy I guess.

The packaging isn’t very exciting but it’s easy to see what’s what and they’re nice and compact.

The texture is very different to the traditional MAC metal pigment formula. It’s quite chunky in the pot, but doesn’t apply that way on the lids. Here’s a comparison of texture and size to MAC Rose Gold pigment

It’s actually what I thought the MAC Solar Bits looked like, but I heard they were quite hard to work with which is definitely not the case here. I remember reading that you needed to pop the little balls of shimmer to get them to work? That sounds like a lot of effort to me! You can see best on the individual pictures the little flecks of metallic pigment in them-

The copper is the least pigmented in my experiences working with these pigments. It’s also difficult to capture the finish of these pigments on camera- when I’ve worn them I’ve actually had a few comments and compliments- they’re definitely eye catching!

Here are two eyes, the first using the gold pigment and Mulled Cider from the Warm & Cozy collection. The second look was the green pigment and a grey shadow.

Gold- I really struggled to capture the metallic finish of this pigment on camera sadly. I will have to try another look to make it translate on pictures!

À mon avis, faut simplement enlever le top de un et tu peux le visser dessous l'autre et les 4 seront ensemble... en tout cas ils sont beaux et je ne m'arrêterai pas à ça!

Le quad est superbe mais j'ai pleins de FAP dans ces couleurs!! Les pigments m'attirent plus ou moins, faut dire que ce ne sont pas ''dans mes teintes''..

Baon, j'ai fais ma pré-wish list!

C'est vraiment une belle collection, je vais commencer tout de suite à mettre de l'argent de côté!

Zazou tu as raison!! Je n'avais même pas remarqué. Le couvercle a un contour noir, et la forme est beaucoup plus carrée!

J'aime mieux l'ancien packaging! C'est pas grand chose qui a changé, mais bon!
